Kopperl ISD Board of Trustee Elections Changed

To November of Even-Numbered Years

Kopperl Independent School District has historically held board of trustee elections on the general election date each May. Due to a change in the state election law trustee elections will now be conducted on the general election date in November of even-numbered years.

HB 1, from the 2006 special legislative session, requires school districts to hold trustee elections on the same date as either:

• The election of members of the governing body of a municipality located in the district, or
• The general election for state and county officers in November of even-numbered years

Since there is no municipality located partially or wholly within the boundaries of the District, KISD is required to hold its next trustee election jointly with the Bosque County election of officers in November 2008.

On October 11, 2007 the Kopperl ISD Board of Trustees unanimously passed a resolution to officially begin this change and to extend the current trustees’ terms of office to conform to the new process.
